Over the years, the Practice has been tasked with the renovation and restoration of several palaces in the historic centre of Florence. These have been especially vast and complex projects, involving the rehabilitation of the entire building to make it suitable for a totally new purpose, blending and coordinating the artistic restoration with the transformation called for by the new functional requirements.
The Practice's refurbishment of grand architectural and ornamental elements has been widely acclaimed, as has its use of modern technologies lending a new life to historic buildings and making them fully functional for a contemporary usage. The experience gained in this field — in which the Practice has always collaborated closely with Sovrintendenza and the other public bodies whose task is to protect the artistic heritage — has enabled the Practice to design and implement projects transforming beautiful ancient buildings into modern functional facilities. This has breathed new life into ancient buildings that now house conference centres, hotels, historical residences, commercial activities, and modern, elegant homes.
