The hills surrounding Florence have always provided visitors with a unique landscape enriched with country houses and villas. Over the centuries, this view has always conveyed an image of perfect integration between the works of man and of nature, between architecture and landscape. Starting from the age of the Medici, the most important Florentine families have always hired the best architects of their times to build country residences for them. These splendid buildings are still the most typical feature of the Tuscan landscape.
The Practice has been tasked with restoring to their original splendour many of the most important villas on the hills surrounding Florence. And other villas and castles further afield — in the Chianti and the Tuscan Maremma — have also been restored by the Practice: the renovation work has always managed to bridge the gap between ensuring accurate historic restoration and meeting the requirements of the current owners' contemporary life in the country.
